    No Period
    Hi,

I had an abortion on March 27. Its April 30 today, which means its 5 weeks since I had an abortion. The doctor gave me birth control pills and wanted to start it from the very next day. I had to travel the next day and forgot to carry my BC pills and did not take them for 2 weeks till I returned. I started taking birth control pills 2 weeks after my abortion.

I want to know, if not having periods 5 weeks after abortion is something to worry about and the fact that I did not start taking BC pills immeadiately could be a problem? PLease let me know asap. Thank you.

P.S.: did not have unprotected sex either.

    Hello Anita,

I can just tell you that this is a different circumstance, but My wife lost her first baby miscarriage. It took a while to get her period back to normal. Same as after having another baby. It takes time for the period to come back.

As far as having an abortion, it is a medical procedure and I think your body will need time to heal from the process. How far a long pregnant were you? That makes a difference too.

In my opinion it is very normal not to have any periods even a couple months after miscarriage? Abortion? Etc... I do not believe it is any concern.

Are you concerned you possibly pregnant again? I know you said you have not had unprotected sex, but slip ups do happen? I would say that your body is just needing time to heal.

If you truly concerned the best way to know for sure if this is normal is to make a visit to your doctor. Let him/her know exactly what you told us.

    Best luck.

Thanks Joe. I am not concerned that I possibly am pregnant. Just worried that my periods did not start. Thanks again

Like I said, It takes time for the body to heal, after wards. Quite normal not to get it. Best of luck. Your welcome. Did my best to answer your question.

When you first start taking birth control pills your period will be abnormal (generally) anyway. But if you still don't have a period for awhile you should definitely be checked out

It is perfectly normal for you to miss your period and for your period to be irregular after having an abortion. Your body has just gone through a dramatic change and is totally out of wack. The pill will also take a few months to make you regular again. Just give it time. It doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about at this time. You could always just call your dr. or the dr.s nurse, I am sure they could be some what helpful.
