He will not get into trouble if he asks their permission and they officially transfer his probation no problem.
No not at all, Unsupervised Probation means he is not directly supervised by a certain probation office, He may move any where in the United States he wants, On the contrary though, He must obey all federal and state laws during the term of his unsupervised probation or he may face revocation (even though most courts ordering unsupervised probation) don't get direct information on him unless he commits a felony then it would probably be more likely for them to find out..
