    I HATE my red hair
I recently dyed my hair red, around 2months ago and I liked it for about 3 weeks then I just hated it!. (plus I had it cut from down my back to my shoulders)
My natural colour is a chocolaty brown. So I tried dying it back to that but its gone a darker version of the red! And its still really red in the sunlight.

I hate it get it off me! Lol

Either give me tips on how to get this crap off at home or someone quote me on how much a colour correction would be in a salon.
I'm scared for my hair, I'm killing it aren't I!

Plus I can't get extensions anywhere for this stupid colour I've got now!

This is what breakups do to u! Lol

    Thanks!

Most likely the developer you used when you dyed it to red the first time has changed your hair to the red you can't get out. When you "lift" brown hair just a little bit it goes red (or that has been my experience I should say.)

When I tried to go blond and ended up orange my stylist recommended wash-out color - I think it is called semi-permanent until it grows out. That way your hair doesn't get overprocessed. He said wash out color sits on top whereas permanent color strips the cuticle to adhere the color.

I think living with the red would be better than overprocessing - it makes it frizzy. However, I am a bottle redhead so I am partial to the color!

Yea I was using wash out colours (toners) before I permanently dyed it this way.

And I really can't live with it either, red hair's not me!
I think, well I've dyed it permanently twice now what's the harm in a 3rd! My hairs already dead!
My mum use to be a hairdresser and is sick of me changing my mind so I won't ask her! Lol
I've heard of things like.. leaving head&shoulders on for 30mins or using fairy liquid.
Is this safe? It won't wreck the colour even more will it?

I don't know what fairy liquid is, but it sounds good. Head and Shoulders is for dandruff so I think it would be stripping.

The new Pantene Restoratives really conditions well. Tread carefully. 3 strikes and you are out in America. I wouldn't want that to apply to your hair!

Well you can always use a hair stripper that you can by at like walgreens for pretty cheap and then try to color it again. Just make sure you're using a really good color treated hair shampoo and conditioner

Try using an ash brown hair color to neutralize the red tones. I recommend that you leave the color on for 10 minutes, then rinse it out with water.

wahoo been to the hairdressers today and they said I probably don't even need to strip it so bye bye £80! And hello £30! They're going to just put a flat brown over it to get rid of the red.
they said they are SO glad I didn't do anyhting else by myself when I came out with all these home methods to get rid of it.

thanks for all your advice though!
you should really just go to the hairdressers.

Go around some local salons and ask how much it'll cost.

Do what Reg says. I had the same problem. I died my hair and it turned out I didn't like it. I could not for anything get rid of that color. Then I went to the salon and spoke to the hair person about it and my hair was back to normal in no time at all.

Hey I am a red head.it's not ginger but it's a bit like yours, red in the sun. I life in western australia and I get teased just about every day at high school. It was fine at primary school I was popular and it was great but as soon as I hit high school I was getting called ''ranga!'' don't ask me who came up with it but I no for a fact that a t.v show called summer heights high populated it.I'm still popular but I still get called name and stuff. I walk past people sometimes and I hear people saying"y would you would u go out with her shes ranga!" like everyone would tease you if you went out with a "ranga". I feel like killing myself sometimes!or dying my hair but being a natural red head I know I would get teased for dying my hair. I'm in a lose lose situation.

I don't know about you but if you want to get rid of your hair colour is to dye it black.

Red hair looks great with blond highlights! That's just my opinion but I really think it does.. But red is a really hard color to remove.. I remember when I dyed my hair black. I had to bleach it amd dye it brown again and it's very damaged, I try to avoid hair dye now.. Lol

Lemon juice and then sitting in the sun also damages your hair - you may not even be aware you are causing further damage.
