I have a question for you ,what were the terms of the original lease you signed in reference to how long was it for? As to this guy being a slickster all I can say is that a month to month lease allows him to make changes from month to month like raising your rent changing future due dates and being able to evict you at the end of your lease.I hope this helps but if your still worried most counties offer free legal help with landlord tenant disputes
