This older model of Kenmore top loading washing machine has the type of dial that pulls out to select and push in to start.
My dial will pull out to select, but not really engage.
Will push in but does not start the machine!

Help! Don't know where to begin.

On most older Kenmore wshers the timer dial will unscrew when turned counter-clockwise. If that doesn't work you may have a broken timer.
