Had to get a new engine for Murray lawn tractor. The old engine has two wires coming off the stator. Red DC output, black AC output (goes to key switch only) according to the wire diagram. New engine has only a red wire off the stator? No black.
Do you need AC for the system or can I get along without it?

I am not familiar with an AC output on that engine. I believe it would require a generator and the machine is equipped with an alternator.
