Pa landlord tenant law - security deposit in escrow
My landlord didn't deposit my money in an escrow account? Does this waive him of charging me for damages? Can he get in trouble?
He is claiming he is not returning my security deposit because I made lots of holes in the walls and had to repaint the house. I did make these holes, but why should I have to pay if he wants to repaint the house.

Because holes have to be filled before he can paint, of course if you made holes in the wall, you are responsible for paying for the damge you caused, I can't beleve anyone would think they can damage a rental house and not be held liable for it.

Now I am seeing 2 and 3 inch holes, not small nail holes from pictures being hung.

No holes were that big. Some were a .25 of an inche and some were pushpin. My girlfriend was a fasion designer so she pinned a lot of things to the wall. What about the landlord not depositing the money in an escrow account. Can he get in trouble for that.

As long as you yourself fix the holes he can not charge you. But since you did move he can charge for that repair work. It would not be your entire security deposit.

If you haven't lived their two years, it does not have to be put in escrow.

I have been here over 12 years and I don't know where my security deposit is. I am looking for answers to some questions myself.

Under The Pa Law Your Landlord Has 30 Days to refund your security deposit and Or Give you in writing details as to why he is not giving you your security deposit back.. If He however does not do this in 30 days he can no longer keep your deposit and in fact must double your security deposit.. I am going through this right now.. I am taking my Xlandlord to court...

You have responded to a 2007 question - please keep on eye on the date.

For anyone else reading this it is not that simple - Pennsylvania Security Deposit Law - when damages are alleged.

I gave my landlord three months notice that I was moving. I told him in March that I saw a roach, now that I have move he gave me back my deposit but with held $250. For Orkin Pest Control, can he do that?
