Murray push motor keeps turning off!
Okay... I have a new to me (used) push murrray lawn mower that I just tried to use today. It was winterized and had no oil or gas in it over the winter. I filled the gas and oil... and lawnmower starts but only stays on for 3-10 seconds before it turns off on me. I did push the primer button like it said to.

What do I need to do to keep it going? Please keep in mind that this is my first time with a gas motor... so be detailed/specific for me! I hope it is something dumb that I am or am not doing... the grass is getting long!

    Thank you for your time!

When it starts and then dies instantly this is generally a fuel supply issue. I would follow the fuel line if possible from the bottom of the tank to the carb and look for a valve that may have been shut off. If this is not the case, I would say you may have a small blockage that is restricting the fuel. The easy fix is fuel filter replacement if it has one. If not, I would look inside the tank with a flashlight for any dirt, etc. It is possible that when it was ran out of gas last fall it sucked dirt down into the fuel system. If it is neither of these then I would lean towards a blockage within the carb itself. These can be more difficult , as if there isn't an inlet fuel filter the dirt could be inside, requiring disassembly. I would check thos eeay ones first and let us know what you find.
