    Trying to locate a well
    Hi,

I bought a house with a staple. Inside the stable was a computer well setup. I thought I found the well under a deck outside the house. It was a 2 meter cube. Last weekend I went down the cube and found it was not a well. I do not know what this cube is for, it has level indicator, has a pump. My feeling is that this unit is used to collect rain water.

I then started to trace where the well power line goes, three pvc pipes come out of staple and one is the 220 v line. 50 feets away under the deck I found two irrigation covers and three pipes inside. Two of the pipes apparently are waterline, there are solenoid valves with electric wire attached to it. I still did not find the well.

Could anyone make some suggestions how I can find the location of the well?

Unless your well is artesian, it has a pump, which needs that 220V electrical service. Get your local "dial before you dig" guys to trace out all your services for you. It may even be free if you have a local "dial before you dig" program. Sounds to me like your 2 metre cube is the well, but it may not be. The well bore can be quite small e.g. 6" or 8", so it may not look like what you THINK it'll look like.

Track the 220 volt power line down and you'll locate the well. My guess is that you have a submersible pump that's located at the bottom of the well.
    Good luck, Tom

    Hi,

After lots of diggings, I called a well guy. He came and parked the truck in front of the house. I tried to describe what I did. He said your well is right there, pointing to a rusted box under a window. Indeed that is the well, over 100 feet from where the tank and switch located. Better yet, he replaced the big capacitor and the pump worked beautifully. There were many broken sprayhead but the whole system works.

    Thanks.
