Tax on income if on L1 visa?
One of my friends came to US on L1 visa. He did not pay the taxes for 1st year of his stay. Even in his w2 full income is not shown; only social/mediacare is shown.

Is it true that non-immigrants who came on L1visa not required to pay the taxes? Please suggest me or refer me for more info.

    Thanks in advance,

If your friend was in the U.S. fro less than 183 days AND he met some other criteria (lack of a permanent base, paid in his home country currency), then, yes, the exemption of his salary from income taxes is probably valid.
