    Trump should get his messaging team (which to date has been his phone and babble he writes on Truth Social..... but that is another discussion ) to tout a housing win that is clearly being buried by the compliant press and the Dems very virulent messaging team.
    The issue is rents. February's rent report continues a trend that has been ongoing for a year. The cost to rent housing has declined month to month. Rents are down 0.2% month-over-month, down 1.4% year-over-year.

    Where he can really make hay over this is the reason why . Trump's deportation polices have played a crucial role .
    The foreign born population declined from 53.3 million in January 2025 to 51.9 million in June 2025, a decline of 1.4 million. This represents the first major decline in the immigrant population in decades.

    Permitting reforms are also a factor .But it appears the market has become renter friendly primarily because of vacancies created when illegals depart . Apparently this can happen without big government solutions like rent controls .
