Why did they go back to work ?
It's been a week since Congress decided to go back to work(right before they all go home for the holidays .) They passed a law that demands all the Epstein files (that are not classified .......hmmmm) be released before the end of the year. Trump has ordered Pam Bondi to find Dem Epstein dirt so one has to wonder how much evidence will be tied up in her investigation.
In the time since they returned ,they all agreed to give themselves fodder for the other things they have managed to "accomplish" .
That is accuse each other and attempt to censure each other .
In the week there have been 4 attempts .
1. The one that actually passed. Dem Rep. Chuy García of Illinois was reprimanded . He announced he would not be running again . He did so at the filing deadline for other candidates to run for his seat . Only one Dem was able to file in time .....his Chief of Staff Patty Garcia . Garcia was the first signer of her petition.
Dem Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington sponsored a resolution the rebuke him. That passed.
2. SC Rep Ralph Norman filed to rebuke Stacey Plaskett for her consultations with Jeffery Epstein before a hearing about Trump's lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen . 3 Repubs voted against and 3 voted present . The measure failed.
3. The Dems retaliated and attempted to rebuke Florida Rep. Cory Mills who is accused of sexual misconduct. They withdrew the measure after Plaskett was cleared .
4. Rep Nancy Mace of SC (who is running against Ralph Norman in the SC Guv primaries ) ;who claims to be a rape victim; filed a separate motion for censure Mills ,
The House did not vote on it and instead referred the issue to the House Ethics Committee .
There would've been another one but the DOJ got in the act . They indicted Dem Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick of Florida for stealing $5 million in federal emergency funds to funnel them into her congressional campaign.Republican Rep. Greg Steube had a censure motion in hand but withdrew it after the indictment .
Congress has an 80% no confidence rating.
Democrats have edge going into 2026 midterms, new poll shows : NPR
One has to wonder what the other 20% is thinking ?
Go take your Thanksgiving recess. I dread what they will do when the return in December .
