Trump was twice the target of an assassination attempt during the campaign . It is not clear the motives behind the attacks because the agencies that are investigating have not exactly been transparent.

What we do know if we believe the intel is that Trump is under threat from Iran because they want to avenge the US attack that killed Qassem Soleimani.

He is not the only one who has a death threat because the attack . John Bolton , Mike Pompeo ;and Brian Hook are also targets .

The three became fierce critics of Trump . Still they were carrying out his Iran policy when they helped eliminate Soleimani.

Trump is retaliating against their opposition by denying them the security protection they were granted by Clueless Joe.

This is a short sighted reaction by Trump.

Besides them ;their families are also under threat .

And even if that weren't the case Trump has not thought this through.

He is taking an aggressive posture against a lot of bad actors . He will have staff working on his policies about Iran ;China , the Norks ; central American gangs ;Mexican drug cartels etc.

How willing will they be to aggressively pursue his policies if they know the President can hang them out to dry on a whim or a grudge against them ?

His lame rationale when asked about it was to say it can’t last forever. It should at least until the threat is no longer a concern.
