In order to write coherently, one has to know what a series comma is too -- and also what an appositive is.

When I see material like this, it makes me wish I was still teaching. It would be a real thought provoker.

It was always fun to throw out a challenge, watch the looks on students' faces as they thought about possibilities, and then hear what they came up with.
