    Multi Stage Programmable Thermostat
Hello, I have been trying to install a new thermostat. I bought the thermostat years ago, when I thought I needed a new one. Anyway, I now need it and have installed it. Unfortunately, it isn't working properly. It is a White-Rodgers Multi-Stage Digital 7 day programmable, 1F94/1F95 90 Series Premium Comfort-Set. It runs, now, but the temperature is not correct, it keeps going up, showing 69 F, and still climbing, when the temperature is more like 65. Also, the fan runs constantly  . Turning the fan to AUTO doesn't turn it off, it still runs. The heater will come on, and go off as will the air conditioner :) .

    Wires:
    Orange to O
    Yellow to Y1
    Green to G
    Black to C
    Pink to L
    Dark Pink to R
    White to W2
    Blue to E1
    Jumper from W1 to E

Please help... My next course of action is to call an electrician. I really would like to have some heat and soon I will need the cooling.

You will need to check the air handler to see how it's wired at that end. Not every service technician or fly by night want to be, uses the same color code. You have a fairly complex system and you may need to call a qualified service tech.

There is a good chance you can figure this out yourself using the resources available here. Go to the sticky at the top of the heating and cooling forum. We have a good man here who has put together some great information including a section on thermostat wiring. Wiring is well standard enough in furnace A/C systems that even if some dolt didn't use the right color codes, if you have the same wire connected to R at both ends, it doesn't make any difference what color the wire is.

Unfortunately heat pumps, that you seem to have, are not as standardized. The terminal labels at the air handler may or may not be the same as the thermostat. If you preserved the colors and labels of the old thermostat it may help too.

To get heat out of a heat pump you need 3 things, power to the coil of the air handler relay, power to the coil of the outside compressor relay, and the reversing valves in the correct position. A multi stage system adds the complication of which relay.

So, check the sticky, check the air handler terminals, the compressor terminals, and any schematic on the air handler. Post back either letting us know you have it going, or posting specific details.
