NY Guv Hochul changes her tune
Back in August she told opponents to move to Florida

Jon Campbell on Twitter: "Gov. Kathy Hochul, at a NY19 rally for Pat Ryan today, said Republicans Donald Trump, Lee Zeldin and Marc Molinaro are "not New Yorkers" and suggested they should "go to Florida where you belong." It's a similar sentiment to comments that got Gov. Cuomo in hot water in 2014. https://t.co/qcoMrc2enj" / Twitter

    That was then,

Problem is that many NYers have taken the challenge and have left the state (including Moi)

Now during her swearing in she sang a different tune.

At Inauguration, Hochul Vows to Make New York Safer and More Affordable - The New York Times (archive.org)

We have to make our state more affordable … And we must reverse the trend of people leaving our state in search of lower costs and opportunities elsewhere.”

Good luck with that. That won't happen in a state where the far-left Dems trying to create utopia have dictatorial control. Far better to rule over 10 million true believers than to govern 20 million people who may or may not buy into their failed agenda. The U.S. Census Bureau found that NY lost 319,000 citizens between July 2020 and July 2021, the highest figure in the country.

During the campaign she said hasta la vista baby to her opponents and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Yeah, I know she singled out individuals who largely represent the escapees. Her message was clear 'take it or leave it'.

She's in a pickle. High taxes are an enormous part of the higher cost of living issue. You can lower taxes, but then you have to lower spending, and in a liberal dem state where the "We are better than you since we force those other than ourselves to give to charity," mantra is practically carved in stone, it's gonna be tough.

Guv Hochul had a stunning revelation .
It gets hot in the summer . Anticipating a week of hot weather she declared a state emergency.

Governor Hochul Updates New Yorkers on Extreme Heat Weather Event (youtube.com)
I just checked temps. NY it is 90 . Here in South Carolina it is 89 .

I lived in NY most of my life . I don't recall a summer when there weren't days that topped 90 . So my radar went up .

She said NY hasn't seen temps like this in our lifetime. That is easily verifiable. Since 1955 there have been many years when the temp went over 90. !966 there were 10 days.
    90DegreeDays.pdf (weather.gov)

BTW the earliest triple digit weather day in NY history was June 26 ,1952 None of the days during the current heat dome will be a record day.

So she is activating the National Guard because nothing says it is hot out like soldiers in full uniform and gear walking around on the streets

This heat wave is unprecedented !!!!

When New York Baked for 12 Sweltering Days - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

Press Release Archives #272-99- MAYOR GIULIANI ADVISES NEW YORKERS ON WAYS TO BEAT THE HEAT (nyc.gov)

    I'm burdened with history

July 1936 a heat wave across the country left over 5,000 dead. NY reached a high of 106

And here is a NY paper from 1852

    https://media.notthebee.com/articles...335727e728.jpg

New Yorkers were going to go to the beach to beat the heat. NY beaches are over crowded as a rule in the summer ;even on week days . So the Guv thought it would be a great idea to open up all of NY parks to free admission today and tomorrow .

When I lived on Long Island I would get up before sunrise in the summer and head to the beach. I was swim and relax on the beach until I saw the traffic slowing on the causeway. Then I would pack up and go home. Typically by about 10 AM it took time walking on scorching hot sand to find a spot large enough to throw a towel down to sit on. And that was days when there was a parking fee .

The photo on her announcement is a deep fake.

There is an $8.6 million surplus in the state coffers due to over collection of the high state sales tax. (4% which when combined with local rates puts NYers on the hook for almost 9% tax on every purchase) .

For once the Guv is going to do the right thing. She is going to cut checks to the people for a rebate. She should consider a sales tax reduction . But that is not the liberal way.
