Is this any way to choose a candidate ?
Last night, Dem Mary Peltola was elected to the House from Alaska beating Sarah Palin In the first round of ranked choice voting, Peltola finished 4th, with just 10% of the votes, compared to Palin’s first-place finish of 27%
60 % of Alaskans voted for a Republican in the first round . But now because of a goofy system they will get a Dem Rep.
Please explain/define ranked choice voting.
You don't just vote for one candidate. You vote for a slate of candidates by selecting your first choice, second choice, and so forth. So coming in second suddenly has a value when they tally the whole thing.
The somewhat good news is that they do the whole thing again in November to select a permanent rep.

it is a scheme to disconnect elections from issues and allow candidates with marginal support from voters to win elections.
Here how it would've worked- in 2008 . John McCain, the emperor , Ralph Nader, Bob Barr, were all running . on your ballot you would rank them 1-4
.If none of the candidates were chosen as the number one pick by a majority of voters in Round One, then the presidential candidate with the lowest number of votes would be eliminated from the ballot. People who selected that candidate as their top pick—would automatically have their votes changed to their second choice. Then the scores would be recalculated, over and over again, until one of the candidates finally won a majority as the second, third, or even fourth choice of voters.In the end, a voter’s ballot might wind up being cast for the candidate who the voter ranked far below their first choice—a candidate to whom the voter may have strong political objections and for whom the voter would not vote in a traditional voting system.
It's a joke . A rerun between the top 2 voter preferences would've been a much better solution.

everyone in the state loved her and thought she did a fine job as Guv until she ran for VP ....... then the hate fest started
Still don't know what she has done that was a real problem.

One of the questions asked if she was offended by the use of the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Palin responded: "Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance."

I don't know of any pol who hasn't said some dumb things. Obama, the hero of you libs, once said he had campaigned in all 57 states and once spelled "respect" as RSPECT when talking about Aretha's song. He claimed, "The Cambridge police acted stupidly," when talking about the Henry Louis Gates situation. He was, of course, completely wrong.
The question concerned what poor policies she had implemented or personal failings she was guilty of.
As to the founding of the country, she might not agree with you, but she does agree with John Adams who once wrote, “The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.” So perhaps she is a good bit smarter than you give her credit for.
Jefferson, in the Declaration of Independence, appealed to God. "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights." As I like to say, you cannot get to equal without going through a Creator.
She was the person most responsible for each Alaskan getting rebate royalty checks for oli companies developing Alaska energy ,She was an anti-corruption warrior .
She signed a very strict ethics law as her first act as Guv . Her opponents used it against her Her opponents filed frivilous complaints that she was forced under the law to defend against . That started to drain her resources so she set up a defense fund . That became the source of more complaints . Across the board she has never been found in violation of the Alaska Executive Ethics Act .
