    My dog hates baths
I have an 8 year old golden retriver and she hates baths. I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried the tub, outside with a hose, a small wading pool, different shampoos, groomers, different groomers. You name it, I've tried it. If I even mention the word bath, she runs off or it's like WWIII. (I swear she understands every thing I say) She's always been this way, but it's gotten worse as she's gotten older. Since she lays in the dirt most of the time, she stinks and I don't think it's very healthy for her to be this dirty all the time. Are there dry shampoos, that I can use to keep her clean? She loves being brushed. I'm tired of fighting with her over a bath.

I seldom if ever bath my Labs, and they never have an odor problem. I feed them a decent chow, brush them regularly, limit their access to stinky stuff to roll in, and have regular vet checks.

Have you discussed this with your vet? There are many health problems including infected ears that can cause odor problems.

I wouldn't think laying in just plain dirt would cause a problem. My puppies often lay in holes they dug in the yard.

I might add, my dogs are out in public all the time and inspected monthly by those responcibe to see to it I give them proper care.

I guess that I'm just talking about normal dog smell then. Wet dog. Dog that rolls around in dirt. Guess she's just a normal dog. She checks out fine at her vet for her regular checkups. No fleas or anything. She's a mighty happy dog! My best friend. I won't rag on her too much about getting a bath anymore. Thanks!
