My wife had it on large capacity and when I came in water was everywhere. We turned it off and the leaking stopped. When I opened the lid the water was over the top of the agitator. I couold hear the water leaking. I turned it down to a medium load and it began the first cycle. I am not sure what is wrong. The water was flowing from underneath the washer. Any help? It is a GE model # S1070A3ww

First thing to ck is the easiest but first you have to get the water out of the tub unless it's already leaked or otherwise flowed out. So if you need to drain the water out, take a short garden hose or a section of it, place one end on the bottom of the tub (might have to lay something heavy on it to keep in near the bottom or have someone hold it down near the bottom, run the hose outside keeping the hose as low below the water level in the tub as possible, start the flow by either taking a wet dry vac and suctioning on the other end of the hose to start the flow of water out. If you don't have a wet/dry vac, I have actually placed placed my mouth on the end and started the flow by sucking the end to start the flow. Of course, stop this when you know the water is flowing out. Try to see if the drain hose near the rear is positioned over and slightly down in the drain outlet. If not, then water will flow onto your floor. Second, move your machine, get down near the drain outlet, pour some water into the drain, maybe lots of it to see if the drain is stopped up, might be a stopped up drain outlet. If you can't fix the problem this way, it probably a pump on the machine that's gone bad and needs replacing. If your machine in more than 7 or 8 years old, consider replacing it with a new one as this is the average life expectany of most washers. Good luck.

When you said you turned it off, do you mean you turned the washer off or you turned the water off? If you turned the timer dial off and it quit, then the problem has to do with the pressure switch. If you had to turn the water off then the problem is with the mixer valve.

This happened to me years back. I left the washer on as I went to bed. Bad move! I woke in the middle of the night to find a flood.
The water level control was misbehaving. I replaced the control (pressue switch), and all was fixed. Took me a few months to take care of the water damage, though.
