    Bath spout shower diverter failed
The pull-up diverter in the shower spout just suddenly ceased working this morning. There is no change in the flow of water when it is pulled upward. Do I have to replace the whole spout or is there another way. The walls are tiled so I fear having to tear that out if I have to replace the spout.

    Please help.

    Hi Jim,

" Do I have to replace the whole spout or is there another way. The walls are tiled so I fear having to tear that out if I have to replace the spout."

Not to worry Jim. You won't have to tear anything up to replace the spout.
Diverter spouts are inexpensive and easy to replace. Look under the spout next to the wall line and if you see a square hole then you have a compression type spout. If no square hole then you have a screw in type. To remove a compression type spout you take a allen head wrench in the correct size and unscrew to allen head screw and pull the spout out. To remove a screw in type just put a wrench on it and screw it out counterclockwise. Replace with the same type.
