    No they own part of Australia, just like they own part of the US, but we are, they think, an easy target. However, they sought to create a recession in Australia and it didn't work.

    We have done a number of things to upset them;

    we were first to call for an inquiry into how covid 19 got started.
    we speak out about their treatment of Uyghurs
    we haven't joined the Belt and Road
    we engage in freedom of navigation in the SCS
    we have blocked takeovers of Australian companies
    we have called them out on esponage activities
    we have offered refuge to Hong Kong activitists
    we have refused Huawei 5G participation

    etc

    China actually shot themselves in the foot imposing hardships on their own population by interferring in the import of Australian coal in a harsh winter
