The Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison was attacked today by a protester who attempted to smash an egg on his head. Australian election campaigns don't usually turn to violence, however, this person had a six pack and clearly intended to continue the attack. Where was his security? It could just as easily been a gun or knife. Eggs have become the weapon of choice when attacking Australian politicians, and while we would all like to make our presence known, a polite up yours would have been more appropriate

That's what happens when you give credence to fringe kook political parties . Our greenies run a candidate every cycle who gets 1% of the vote . The Green Party convention resembles a gathering of nursery school music teachers. But the big secret is that our Dem party is getting more radical by adopting some of the loonier policies of the Greens .

Yes, Here the Greens have about 5% and have managed to get a Representative and a few Senators elected. They are a dangerous group as their leftist policies are extreme, zero CO2 emissions and so forth. We have a number of minor parties with similar support and so hung parliaments have become a feature of the political landscape. This brings out the protestors as their agendas don't get advanced.

The egg effect is apparent as Scott Morrison won the unwinnable election and we will no longer have a hung parliament. Morrison declared his win a miracle. So my recommendation is start chucking those eggs and Tal this means we rejected the left and conservatism is on the rise

"This time around" was the key phrase because I think that while conservatives won the day this time we both know that the left is going nowhere. They never do, and for fact there are extremes on both sides so while you may have squelched those too far lefties, those too far righties may become emboldened and gain a foot hold and find a way too raise taxes in some form or another just out of their own needs. LOL, I think you are following our lead to the extent you found that one dude to rally around to get your way against your ideological more tax "enemies".

That's how we got the dufus Clete, and by an unpopular narrow margin of those who thought they too were not being listened to so they went in the other direction. We see this everywhere, not just in your country or mine but all over the civilized world.

Totally agree .If the Dems want a warning about the consequences of embracing the Green New Deal, look no further than yesterday's election in Australia. The Labor Party lost as voters rejected its move left on taxes, spending and on "climate change".

Morrison's platform stressed economic growth, tax cuts and support for the country’s energy producers....and that is a winning platform. All the greenies promised were lost jobs ,higher taxes and ridiculous laws and regulations that would have no or little impact on the environment. Here the left leaning media took little note of this development . But rest assured (paraphrasing Joe Biden);the results in Australia are a 'big f-n deal'!

He has insight. You see in the past a move to the left in America signaled a move to the left in Australia, but this time it didn't happen and Morrison wins the unwinnable election. A certain clique is willing to ensure that everyone pays for their fabled policy of zero emissions. 50% expensive electric cars didn't go down well, 50% reduction in emissions didn't go down well because we have been there before and these are very expensive options for the lower income classes. In one working class coal mining city they turned against their traditional support of Labor, in Queensland three electorates favoured mining jobs rather than climate change and these people border one of the Greens catch crys, save the Great Barrier Reef, the Greens actively campaigned there, busing in southerners, and turned the electorates over to their opponents.

The conservatives have had power for six years, but there has been instability in leadership and indecisive electoral results resulting in hung parliaments. The last time they "lost" power was in a bi-election following the ouster of Turncoat a few months ago, and the predictions were that they wouldn't be reelected. There are many marginal electorates which makes predicting outcomes difficult. The conservatives have had consistent economic policies and have worked to bring the budget back into balance following the GFC. Australia survived the down turn of the mining sector, and other economic problems including a housing market bubble/bust. Things are "good" and noone wanted to risk the dingbats of the left stuffing that with their big taxing agenda
