    Computer starts late
    Hello
I have a P3 processor. It takes lot of time to boot. Even after starting it displays wrong time. It doesn't updates the time. The clock runs properly when the computer is on. But once I turn off and turn on after sometime it shows the same time as that of last login. Please help me. I have also tried formatting the system but it didn't help.

I'm speaking from things learned long ago on this but there used to be a rechargeable battery that powered the bios inside the computer. This battery also kept the internal clock running properly. On the newer computers I have been into they were using a flat battery about the size of a US quarter. Have you tried replacing that?

No. I have not tried replacing the battery. Will changing the battery affect the settings of the computer?

If you don't know your way around the inside of a computer you should be able to find a friend with enough knowledge to help you quite easily. Make sure the power is off and the computer unplugged before going inside. Find the battery... determine the number designation on the battery... purchase another at the drugstore, WalMart or whatever it should be in the range of $2-$4. Return home Pop out the old and replace with the new. Hope this helps
