My Employer Had Me Sign A Non Compete Agreement After Being On The Job For 1 Year. He Stated Read The Form Over Sign And Turn In At The End Of The Day. No Compensation Was Given To Me For Signing This Form. I Felt That If I Didn't Sign It I Wouldn't Have A Job. How Can I Get Out Of This Non Cpmpete?

First your questions have nothing to do with this thread. You shouldn't use someone else's thread it confuses matters. So I've asked that your question be moved to its own thread.

To answer your question, you need to contact an attorney who can advise you. Some non-compete agreements are valid, others cannot be upheld. Also, the fact that you felt pressured to sign might have a bearing. On the other hand, that no compensation was offered is immaterial.

Hello and welcome to our site, I moved it for you Scott.

In general you were allow to keep your job by signingit, in general for new hires they just don't get hired if they don't sign, for older employees esp in right to work states, if you don't sign the agreement, they merely let you go.

But the majority of non compete agreements merely written up by managers won't hold up in court, but to decide that you will have to have an attorney look at it but understand, they can sue you if you break it, and you will have to defend yourself in court, So even if it isnot a valid contract or can't be upheld, you may and can end up in court to prove it.

So the only way out, ask the companys permissoin to break it and get it in writing, or break it, let them sue you and then win in court
