Do I have a case for receipt from retail showing my name as a bad word?
I made a complaint about the way a manager treated me when I made a return. District Manager called, apologized and offered a discount. Went back in new manager didn't speak to my family at all but was speaking to everyone else and helping them. Asked another associate about my discount and she had no knowledge of it. We did not make a purchase. Made another complaint. The manager I made the second complaint about contacted me and offered a bigger discount to give the store a second chance. Went in to make purchase and after leaving noticed on my receipt my name is Angie Martin and it was shown on the receipt as AngieStupid MartinB@@CH. Was told by district manager that it was done as a joke and the assistant manager told me that the manager from my first compliant had been fired due to my complaint. The corporate office is telling me that they are very sorry and offering me free shoes. I am also very upset because this person could have my address since it is stored in the system since I am a frequent shopper and earn points for purchases. Why would I even want to go in any of their stores? Please let me know if I have a case.

    Thanks!

A case for what? How were you damaged?

Sorry I don't see any grounds for you to successfully sue them.

    Dear Angie,

I have to agree with the previous poster. Since there were no REAL damages (except to maybe your ego), and the store took care of the problem by firing the manager, and offered you compensation in discounts, they indeed tried to rectify the problem.

The question I have however, is what prompted them to act in such a way? Apparently there is more to this story than the eye reads. With that said, again. You do not have a case.

Whoa you must have made a major scene there or acted way out of hand, sounds like you are a bit on the drama side, not trying to be rude or anything because I would have flipped out if I had seen that on a receipt that one of their clerks gave me, but I feel like maybe you are not including the way you acted in the beginning to get labeled like that.

I think you got a fair dealing with this store - the discounts, the manager fired for inappropriate behavior. What would you sue them for? If you did sue the store, the store personnel would need to come forward and tell the whole truth.

I can understand your concern about the first manager having information on your address. But seriously, he could have looked that up in the telephone book too. Yes, some people do do foolish things like try and get some revenge but are you worth that to this guy?

Let it go. I am sure the store knows you made your point and the employees there all know you made your point. I agree that the b@@@h written remark on your receipt was uncalled for and you probably could find a lawyer who would say you have a case, but is this worth any of that? There is no gain to be had here. Let it go.
