I recently bought a GE dishwasher online thinking, that since I have installed dishwashers before I should have no problem. I was wrong. The GE model I bought has a discharge connection that is approximately 1 inch so I need a discharge hose of one inch inside diameter. Home depot, Lowe's, and even Fergerson Supply (plumbing supply) don't carry the right size hose. I also wanted to install an Air-Gap before the discharge goes to the Garbage Disposal but the Air-Gap device has a connection for a much smaller hose possibly 1/2 inch coming from the dishwasher side and the standard 3/4 inch going to the garbage disposal.
I am wondering if there is some special GE part that connects to their discharge valve and then transitions to a smaller size? Is it feasible to reduce the size of the discharge hose?
In addition to the question above I would like to be able to pull my dishwasher out without disconnecting it what is the longest discharge hose I should use?

Try Mcmaster.com for the hose

I would start with an appliance parts supply, local or Appliance Parts from Repairclinic.com - Find & Order Parts You are not going to a ready made hose as long as you want.

The big box stores and hardwares have rubber and plastic hose in the plumbing section. Perhaps buy some inch hose as long as you want. In the same section, you should find reducers to connect it the half and 3/4 inch hose and then to the other fittings. By going the whole way with larger hose, you will keep the back pressure down to where the longer hose may not extend the pump out time much.

Are you sure the hose doesn't step down in size further inside the rubber connector?

Most newer dishwashers are designed to accommodate 1", 7/8" and 5/8" hose connections, but you will need to trim off the larger end with a utility knife until you reach the 5/8" 'step' in the hose in order to attach it to the 5/8" port on the air gap.

There is a special connection hose that comes with the dishwasher it transitions from 1" to 5/8" which is the size you need to connect to the Air-gap. The hose is 6' long and can be extended up to 10' according to GE installation manual. To extend the hose use a small piece of 5/8 pipe and two hose clamps to add the 4' of additional 5/8 ID hose.
