I just recently installed cc cleaner and noticed that there isn't a backup section in case this deletes or uninstalls something that is needed so I was wondering. When I use the cleaner to clean my machine does it uninstall or delete things that might be needed or hurt my computer or just useless junk that isn't needed and maybe causing my system problems? I ran the cleanup and most of things there are things that I have no idea what they are because there's so much code and computer language etc. I'm using a compaq computer with windows xpsp2 and Internet explorer.

I have been using CCleaner successfully for years.
Don't worry as it only deletes completely unneeded rubbish.

When you come to run the registry cleaner part you can do a back up of that, but I have never found a need to.

If in doubt there is always system restore ;)

The first few times I used cc cleaner I set a restore point first but never had any issues. The main window of cc -cleaner just clears temp files. [ my computer is same basic spec`s as yours]
If you go to the issues window -- it will ask to if you want to back up registry first prior to cleaning -- always back it up. -- Savage

Use with a little care when deleting "cookies" - your passwords won't automatically be filled in if you delete the cookies for them. It won't actually delete passwords, but you'll have to hunt them down in the menu if you've forgotten them, and then type them in again.

A minor nuisance considering it's a free program.
