    HCC and transplantation
I am currently awaiting transplantation of a liver. I have HCC (Liver Cancer). I understand that if my cancer metastesises that I will no longer be eligible for the transplant. Is this true? And if so, how long befgore a lesion (approx 2.1 cm.) metastesises? I know that livers are more readily available to patients with cancer, but I assume that is because of the fact that there is only a certain window available for the transplant.

First let me start by saying that I am sorry you are having to go through this. It must be tough on you. I have been through cancer myself, so I can kind of relate.

Now, the length of time a lesion metastisizes is individual. It is different for every person. It is (I believe) also dependent on the stage of the cancer itself. You really should discuss this with your oncologist. Most likely he has the most recent updated facts for your personal case.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that you get that phone call soon!!
