    Dishwasher flooding the toilet
What do I do? When I run the dishwasher, it is filling up the downstairs toilet and overflowing? The dishwasher also has dirty water in it

    Hi Katrina

I'm going to bet that you have more than just the dishwasher backing up and out the toilet downstairs. In most cases, where the lowest fixture in a home backs up, it is a result of the MAIN DRAIN being blocked up. Call your plumber or local drain cleaning company and have them come out and snake the drain line to clear the blockage.

Dishwasher doesn't have enough water to overflow toilet. Do as Mark suggested.

If funds aren't readily available, I like to get a Drywall bucket full of water, and pour from a good height as fast as toilet can handle, Not Overfill. Many times it will clear a clog. Good Luck
