I am trying to find a movie.
Do not know the actors names, only remember some scenes.

Move is set in USA modern day time.
Opening scene is a black African American quoting from bible and a woman in a bath tub , he is trying to get her to commit suicide for reasons not known - location is a motel.

The guy then gets involved with a couple who are travelling across America and he is continually quoting - very religious.

Towards the end the guy gets his thumb shot off and holds it up to heaven and it grows back and you realize he is indeed a messenger of god sent to rid the world of evil people ?
