Plants release up to 30 per cent more CO2 than previously thought, study says - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

It seems that plants produce much more carbon dioxide than human activities, and this is increasing as temperatures increase. Who knew? A recent finding shows that plants not only produce much more carbon dioxide than was thought but that their take up of carbon may reduce. What this means is that current climate change models are way off. So, all our efforts to reduce carbon emissions are a mere drop in that vast bucket and are being offset. The planet is showing us who is in control

I got that mans activity is overwhelming the plants ability to absorb CO2 emissions.

That says, like tal says, we're killing plants by overwhelming them with C02 emissions.

The reports did not say the plants were dying, the plants use CO2, but change in temperature brings about changes in the plants, but I come back to a fact, even if we stop all carbon emissions atmospheric levels will continue to rise

That's not a fact, just an excuse to do NOTHING, and add to the problem. Basically you are saying that human activity doesn't contribute to rising temperatures which is erroneous.

I don't believe for one second that paraclete believes that plants are the problem. He's enjoying his role as Instigator. Some of my best friends are instigators. I can't bring myself to try it.

Whether humans are a problem or not isn't really the issue, there has been runaway greenhouse effects on Earth eons ago if earth science is to be believed, and there wasn't a human in sight. No one wants to admit we are already beyond the tipping point, just how much we contributed is conjecture, and obviously the science is not settled, it is just scratching the surface.

Thing is; in a few short years I'm out of here, and you can rely on our current crop of brains to solve the problem or not. All I see is a lot of argy bargy and not many solutions. The solutions we have cause big problems and I'm waiting for the lithium industry to be shut down because of the damage it does.

The point of us here now maybe not seeing a solution is well taken, which also goes to your point of the argy bargy. I keep saying there is no intelligent life on Earth and maybe that includes me too! Good thing it doesn't take brains to be ARGY! ;D

Me too! To old to burn the candle at both ends anymore, or stay up till midnight even most nights. 40 years ago there was no sleep, just passing out. The wick just ain't got as much wax as it use too. I admit it! 8(

Studies can be shown to prove or disprove almost anything. Did you ever see the sturdy of human breath expiration? We humans inhale about .04% CO2 BUT exhale about 4% of our breath as CO2. We better stop breathing! Just think how much CO2 YOU put into the atmosphere each day by the constant yapping on a cell phone or running!!

Yes I have been saying for a long time we need to reduce population, we didn't have these problems until our population grew rapidly, but the nations who are the most populous just won't stop breeding and pumping CO2
