    Served with Summons
I was served a summons from a lawyer. It has to do with collections of a credit card debt when I was laid off work 5 years ago. I have not paid on this in 5 years. The summons does not have a court date. It just says I must reply. Is there a certain way to respond to a summons? Do I need a lawyer to do this for me? I am in South Carolina and the statue of limitations is 3 years so I do not even know why the courts would allow this to be sent.
I called my county clerk of court and she said the summons was on file and if I do not respond in writing within 30 days I would lose and could have a Judgement against me.
She also said that there was a certain way to write a reply but she did not go into detail.
    Can someone help?
    Thanks
    Craig

If it is more than a little bit of money you should "consult" with a lawyer for 30 minutes to an hour they will charge you 75 to 125 $. But it is worth it.
