Faulty Leviton Self Testing GFCI Receptacles?
I replaced an ivory colored, 20 amp GFCI receptacle in a powder room, with a white colored one, to match new wall paint. This receptacle does not have a status light and it powers on
With the powder room switch, which in turn powers on the lights above the vanity. I replaced it with a Leviton, self-testing, 20 amp GFCI receptacle. Once installed, the green status light stayed on, but the lights did not turn on and there was no power to the receptacle. Unit failed to reset. The wiring was correct. Determined that the receptacle was faulty and returned it for a new one. New one also fails to reset with the green status light on. Once again, I verified that the load/line wiring was not reversed. I installed the old one back in and the powder room lights go on and the receptacle has power. A GFCI outlet tester confirms that the old GFCI outlet is wired correctly. Did I purchase 2 faulty Leviton GFCI receptacles back-to-back, or is there something else at play here? Thanks in advance for any answers!

GFI's have change over the years, some light when powered, some light when tripped, some light when Nearing end of life? New GFI's will Trip and Reset ONLY if they have power. Be sure power is going to line side. Any wires on the LOAD Side?
GFI will not reset if Switched leg is not GFI and Neutral is on Load side of GFI. I would not have lighting GFI protected, as if GFI trips, you will be in the Dark, Can you provide a photo, or what wires you have going to what? Thanks

It was stupid how they wired the powder room. The GFCI outlet is powered, along with the lights with the switch... don't ask me why. Never had a problem with the old GFCI receptacle, just wanted one that was white to match the new paint. I received a reply on Reddit that Leviton self-testing GFCI's are known for being problematic and it could be that I purchased two bad ones. Like I stated in my original post, the wiring is correct and all the grounds are secured properly. I just went to Home Depot and purchased yet another Leviton GFCI receptacle and everything works now like before. Thanks for your reply and have a good day.
