We had a leak in what I thought was the fill valve so replaced that took care of most of it... but still a slow leak so replaced the guts now no leaks but slow flush and no swirl at all takes 3 4 flushes to do the job

Check water level after refill and adjust float as needed, as well as the fill tube, and check flapper seat, and adjust as needed, and check the holes under the toilet rim for blockage.

These are some good videos to watch and learn from. You can probably skip through the British guy though.

PS. I stopped using acid for toilets decades ago. CLR, white vinegar, and dish detergent worked well.

Seems to me like you installed low-flow flopper to full flush toilet. Flopper controls amount of water entering bowl. Not every flopper on shelf in HD will fit every toilet. Also, flopper can be adjusted to allow more water entering bowl. Furthermore, check water level inside tank. It should be about 1/4" below overflow tube. If too low, adjust fill valve float

Best thing to do is to take brand and model number of your toilet and Google it for parts. Purchase exactly the same parts that manufacturer originally designed for that particular toilet.

    Hope that helps
