    Net Premium Tax Credit
When completing my return, and filling up my 1040 and form 8962, I got $1093 in Net Premium tax credit from form 8962, line 69 on 1040.

I want to know if I am doing something wrong. I am retired and did not work. I live with my son (he files his own taxes, I file mine). Because of no income, I utilize Advance payments of premium tax credit for my health insurance in the market place. I am grateful that government does that. But now, on Form 8962, line 25 was greater than line 24. So I am getting the difference back. Does that make sense? I am getting money back when I didn't even pay any taxes. Am I making any mistake? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Are you using tax software like TurboTax?

    No. Doing this by hand.

Then the only way I can confirm whether you are doing it write is to actually look at the return.

May I suggest to contact the IRS and ask where the nearest VITA (Voluntary Income Tax Assistance) location is, so you can one of their volunteers look over your return?

Thank you. But is there a possibility that a situation like this can arise where even though I didn't work or paid any taxes but get money back because of a tax credit. I understand what I am asking for is not a professional advice but just a general question, whether something like this is possible.

    Thanks

Actually, thanks for your answer. I figured my mistake. It's only $2 coming back. I multiplied by 12 instead of 11 (no health insurance in January).
