How to choose a good fire alarm for protecting your property?

For Home, or Commercial?
For Home, I would use a DSC Power Series
I have 1 System in that shuts down AC if Heat or Smoke is detected, so it won't spread smoke throughout the house, or feed more Oxygen to the Fire.
I like Silent Knight for Commercial.
