    Dissolving marriage
I have been married since 2001 in California. In 2006, my wife and I separated and she left the state. I haven't heard from her since and do not know of her whereabouts. I also found out that a divorce from her previous marriage was not finalized despite both of us were informed it was (we never received the final papers).

What are my options for dissolving the marriage?

    Hello p:

You need to hire a lawyer.

OK... let me add something... a lawyer is not an option I wish to exercise. Most divorces do not require a lawyer if both parties are amicable. In this case the other party is not present nor are they anywhere to be found, this should make things simpler.
