    initial velocity=u and final velocity =0
    when a body is dropped from a height
    initial vel.=0 and final vel.=v
    when a body is thrown from a height (downward)
    initial vel.=u and final vel.=0

    At its apex its velocity is 0 - is that what you mean by "final velocity?"

    Generally true, unless something else acts on the body.

    No, why would the final velocity be 0? (Unless you're thinking of a case where the object hits the ground and hence comes to a stop.)
