We just installed a new large tub. Realize that we our 50 gallon Hot water heater is not providing enough hot water. HWH is new so not looking to replace. Plumber recommended Sharkbite Tank Booster, which is basically a mixing valve that is attacehed atop the water heater. Water is then stored at 140-150 degrees and cold water is mixed in, thus creating more water at 110-120 degrees. Have you heard of this and is it effective?

All it does is allow you to keep the HW heater set at a higher temperature. While it does increase available volume, you are going to be keeping water hotter and it will cost you for gas. It may be more cost effective in the long run to add another smaller heater in line. You should have at least a 50 gallon for a large tub, particularly if it is an electric heater.

Sharkbite has technicians on hand... give them a call after reading the above literature and confirm all.

I would think you could also use a regular mixing valve... would be cheaper!

Is that a "bubble" / "jacuzzi" type tub ? Is it cast iron or "plastic" tub ? Just wondering...
