    Possible thyroid trouble?
Hi for about 2 years my hair has been falling out a little bit, mainly around the temples but very gradually, but for the last few months its been falling out at the back as well (from the root), not so much on top but more underneath.I probably lose about 300 hairs a day which might not be much but I don't think its growing back, though the hair that isn't falling out still grows.I also have an itchy scaly scalp, but this has cleared up a little recently .My hair was very thick before and the thinning is not incredibly noticeable, but it plays on my mind all the time and I don't want to leave it to late.

I seem to also have an increased appetite, but when I eat I still feel weak, almost hollow, I feel shortness in breath, a slight tremor, forgetfulness, depression and tiredness. I tried an iodine patch test and the patch disappeared in about 6 hours. If my hair wasn't falling out I may not have really been that bothered about the other symptoms as I have always been a little bit of a shaky person, with a big appetite (though I did have a good memory before)but I feel even these symptoms could have increased in the last few months.

I plan to go to the doctors this week, but was just hoping someone could give me a clue as to whether it seems likely that a thyroid problem is what I have, and if so overactive or under.
Also I have never had a blood test before and never had anything wrong with me before, can I ask the doctor to test me for a thyroid problem or will he have to decide that. Also will they test for other stuff at the same time like anaemia or hormone problems?
thank you for your time x

P.S My auntie had a goitre on my mums side, and on my dads side a girl cousins hair recently fell out in chunks (I'm not sure what caused it, we don't speak the same language) and an uncle who has vitiligo (I heard somewhere this could be related)

It will be better for you to consult a good doctor who will be able to diagnose your problem. It could be something related to thyroid but make it sure from a doctor. You dont need to tell the doctor to test for thyroid, explain him/her the problems you are facing and a good doctor will be able to find out easily

Thanks for the answer, I am planning to see my gp and hopefully he will figure it out, but I just wanted to know a bit more about it before I went in so I would know what to expect, also my doctor is a bit hard to talk to
    Thanks again
