Is it possible for a toilet to be bad we have 1 toilet that keeps backing up and overflowing. The other toilet in the house has no issues and the washer has no issue draining nor does the dishwasher. The tub/shower has no issues either no slow drainage etc only the 1 toilet? Thanks for any help you could give.

It is sounds like the toilet in question has a partial blockage(?) close to the source (Before it intersects with the main, or other common drain points). Have you tried the plunger and flush with water using a bucket? That's where I start as the easiest thing to do. A 10 foot snake through the toilet itself, or removing the toilet and snaking the drain directly is the next move.
Where is the toilet in relationship to the other draining appliances, and toilets/sinks? A bit more info please, since a backup/overflow indicates a close to the toilet blockage not a "bad toilet".
No small children
Well the tub in right next as well as the sink the other toilet is about 150 feet as well as the washer. The kitchen in in between both. We usually start with the water/plunger brigade and works sometime and others it just gurgles and the water level goes low. This last time it happened during the night and was not noticed till my mother got up I just don't understand why the tub/shower in the same room has no issue what so ever.. No there is a tub/shower and sink in the same room. And yes it will back up to the top and overflow sometimes and not sometime.I have ran a snake all the way through it but still does this also we do not put any paper in the toilets altho this has not helped and shouldnt have to on city sewage but was hoping this would help. I also didnt figure it was a bad toilet never heard of this i just have no clue why there are no other issues in the house..Quote:

Get 5' auger snake, insert it in the bowl and push it in-and-out while rotating it. Do it several times. Flush many times while doing it. Try pouring a bucket of water ( 2- 3 gallons ) directly into the toilet bowl, if a back - up occurs stop pouring to prevent an overflow. It is not unusual for the narrow channels that deliver water from the tank to the bowls rim & siphon jets to become partially blocked with mineral deposits...
The bucket trick is a good next step, for sure, so please try that and see what happens.
If the toilet backs up and you snake it AGAIN and it doesn't fix it then I see no other alternative but to lift the toilet and inspect the outlet of the toilet (snake through toilet with toilet off the toilet flange). If, after you snake through the toilet the issue is not obvious, you would then run a hose over to the toilet drain and run water into the toilet drain to check to see if the main drain is clogged.
My guess is a heavily clogged toilet and that you may not have the right tool for the job. I recommend a CLOSET AUGER like Milo suggested... �� Work the auger tool in and out many times and hopefully, it'll fix the problem!
