    Wall receptacles don't work

Yes, the first thing you do is reset the breakers.
And they don't always reset easily - you sometimes have to hold them tightly against the side of the box instead of just flicking them.
You could buy a circuit tester (socket tester) from amazon for cheap, under $10.

From what you relate it is unlikely that the problem is tripped breakers.

Are the kitchen outlets GFI outlets (they should be)? If so check to see if the GFI is tripped. If even one of the kitchen outlets is a GFI, it is probably protecting the other kitchen outlets. Try to reset it.

Pull the bedroom outlet and see it it is wired using the quick connect holes in the back of the outlet. If so, remove the wires from the quick connect holes and put under the screw terminals on the side. The quick connects are known to develop bad connections after a period, usually about 10 years.

Post back with what you find.
