    Gurgling and foul odor
Every so often ( sometimes more often) When we flush the toilet , we get a gurgling sound in the shower drain. We also notice a foul odor coming form the bath room, often when we have done the dishes , and sometimes just ever so often, more often lately. We sealed the toilet area, checked the outside vents , opened the drain area, (no clogs) . And are pretty much clueless. We just tried snaking out the pipes , but nothing seemed out of the way. Help!

The gurgle indicates that the suction from the toilet discharge is venting through the shower trap. A blocked vent's the usual culprit when this happens. The odor could happen if the trap seal in the shower was lowered by the suction caused by venting through the trap or it coulod be caused by back pressure from a partial clog.
You may have thought you snaked out your drains and vents but you haven't convinced me. You either used too small a snake or you didn't run out enough. Recheck your work. Good luck, Tom
