What does it mean when the red theft light comes on and stays on.
The car is 16 years old... the manual does not address it.

How long have you had this car? If the light is on permanently, the car will not start. This has been a GM issue on your car. I would guess someone clipped the wire to bypass the system. GM discontinued this in 2004 or 2005 I believe.

My friends Mom, in her 80's put 40,000
Miles on the car. When she died three years ago, I got the car. The car
Drives fine.

Then ignore it, probably disconnected.

Thank you for writing. Guess what, I just in my car and the light is gone!
With such low mileage (owner drove it to her church and local shops only)
I would like to hang on to it for years to come, if that's possible.
New York traffic may do it in prematurally!!
