It means literally just that. Taking a silver spoon and turning it into a ring.. There are a lot of rings made of spoons now a days, mainly for fashion. It is thought to have been started centuries ago, by people who couldn't afford a real ring to offer to the one they wanted to marry, so they would use a spoon. Probably a real silver spoon stolen from their "masters".

Thank you, but this idea doesn't really fit into the lyrics's meaning
There's the part of the lyrics:
    Here comes the invisible man
That no one turns to see
I'm just another dumb fool who'll never go down in history
Yeah, you're standing there with the homecoming king
Turn the silver spoon into a diamond ring
Can he make you disappear without anyone noticing?
    Yeah, the homecoming king!

So it should have a hidden meaning, shouldn't it?

It seems fairly straight forward. The 'silver spoon' probably refers to the old saying that a rich/privileged/popular person was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. The 'diamond ring' probably refers to an engagement/wedding ring. Homecoming Kings are generally stereotyped as rich, good-looking, popular males who all the females see as a 'good catch'.

The singer sees himself as a nobody that no one notices especially the female he 'likes'. He appears to be accusing the female of latching on to the 'homecoming king' to secure her financial future.
