    12 inch copper hydrant connection
60 year old house Copper line embedded in concrete floor wall hydrant 12 inch shutoff 12 inch shutoff was removed Clear channel through concrete to copper union (embedded in 60 year old concrete) Attempted using cold copper bond to reconnect without success. Is there a way to reconnect without going into concrete floor (Cannot get at the union to solder)

    Milo Dolezal
Unscrew the union, remove loose half of the union, solder pipe into it, and connect back to the union

You can certainly try what Milo presented. If that fails to resolve the problem you can always try to unsolder the union fitting in the concrete and then clean the joint up and attach a sharkbite or gator bite type of PUSH-ON type of fitting. You may need to chip back a little more concrete, but this should result in the least amount of chipping work for you (next to Milo's solution, of course) and a good secure fit to the copper tube.

    Back to you...
