I'm trying to replacing a moen cartridge (1222b) on a moen shower. I took off the handle and there is a metal handle adapter. I removed the screw in the middle of the adapter and cannot remove the metal handle adapter. Can someone help. I do have a pic of it but I can't attach it to this post.

Try this, moen.com, it says "not found" but click on "customer support", videos and manuals.

Grasp with pliers and pull. If it really won't come off get a faucet handle puller and use it to pull the adapter. It is just stuck from crud and corrosion.
