Hi,

I ran CCleaner in XP and deleted the entry "C:\HP\KBD\KBD.EXE" because my keyboard did not seem to be a Logitech one. I also did not see that program or directory on the computer. But now, every time I start Outlook, I get a prompt to install the Office 2000 CD. The problem is that I don't have it. I can cancel the installation and everything works fine. I also tried to load the Office 2003 CD but that did not help.

I wonder if this KBD.EXE is the reason. If so, where do I get the exec ?

kbd.exe is a process from Logitech which allows you to configure the additional keys on their multimedia keyboard products. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is up to the user. This kbd.exe could be a malware or trojan so it will be better for you to do a scan for spyware removal.

I read that's what kdb.exe is used for. I did run ad-aware. I also cleaned up the registries and restored them (with Ccleaner and Eusing), so I don't think that was the issue. My conclusion is that I must have deleted a good entry is the startup, but I don't know which one.

In this case you would have deleted a valid registry entry by mistake. As you are using Windows XP why dont you restore your PC to a restoration point before you deleted those files.
