Our basement is leaking up through an interior wall (supporting) and trying to find out where this is coming from and feel that it could be a serious problem

Water doesn't leak up. It might seep up through the drywall but gravity make it go down the wall. Any plumbing in the wall? Could be a leak from a cracked drain pipe, vent pipe, a screw through a supply line or other sources.
