I'm writing a book and struggling to find helpful research online. I know that CF patients shouldn't be around each other. I have a few questions though.

1. They should not date, but can they be friends? Keeping in mind to keep a safe distance?

2. Are there support groups where they can all sit together and talk.

3. I read a story off a news website about a married couple who both have cystic fibrosis. The husband got a lung transplant so the wife could not see him until she got one herself. Does this mean people with CF can be together after both receiving the lung transplant, or should they continue to keep their distance.

4. Do they constantly have to be on oxygen?

5. Can they travel?

6. What would cause one of these patients to suddenly pass away?

You are a tad off base. Two people with this affliction can be together, but can't mate. It is a genetic condition not an immune condition. That is to say, it is not something you can 'catch' like aids.

People woth cf are at risk of infecting each other because only them have the specific gene. You can look it up if you want. If they go to close they can give each other a lung infection that will make the condition worse.

Okay those are all my questions for now

1). They can date, they can even get married. They just can't have children or their children will have CF. CF is genetic, not contagious.

2). I'm sure some places have support groups.

3). Makes no sense at all. CF patients need to be vigilant in protecting their health so that they don't get sick. Even the common cold could kill them.

4). It depends on how advanced their disease is.

5). It depends on how far advanced their disease is.

6). Cystic Fibrosis is incurable and fatal without a lung transplant. So just having CF could cause them to die.
